Line Dance Connection:

What's your name? Do you have a name you’re known by when you’re DJing?

AJ:

My name is AJ Rivers also known as AJ the DJ.

Line Dance Connection:

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

AJ:

I was born and raised in South Philly and Philadelphia is still my home town.

Line Dance Connection:

How long have you been DJing?

AJ:

I started spinning at the age of 15, so 35 years in the business.

Line Dance Connection:

How'd you get into DJing?

AJ:

My 1st job was by surprise. A friend of my father had a DJ job to do but he had to work.  He gave me his turn tables and I did the job and never stopped.

Line Dance Connection:

Are you primarily a line dance DJ? Or do you DJ non line dance events as well?

AJ:

I'm one of the original line dance DJs from way back in the day, when we use to get it in for real and I have plenty of footage to prove it. I don't just do line dancing though……I'm an all-around master of the art.

Line Dance Connection:

What’s your favorite thing about DJing?

AJ:

My company motto is “You Can't Move Your Feet Until You Feel The Beat”!

I love to have the folks rocking and having fun. When they are sweating and screaming that means I’m doing a good job…….so it's all about the fun of dancing.

Line Dance Connection:

What's your not so favorite thing about it?

AJ:

Being the first one there and the last one to leave.

Line Dance Connection:

Some people say a DJ makes or breaks a party; do you do anything special to prepare for a party?

AJ:

I just go with the flow…….feel the crowd out and then bang them in the head.

Line Dance Connection:

What's the one thing you think you're known for?

AJ:

Hosting some of the biggest and best line dance and oldies parties on the east coast and my sayings (Aw Yeah, Hey Good People and One Love AJ).

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs are guaranteed to pack the dance floor?

AJ:

CC Rider, Baltimore Good Foot, Clear the Floor, FTB 2, etc

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs will make you leave the DJ booth and dance?

AJ:

Sorry but when I’m working in my craft I never leave my post.

Line Dance Connection:

How do you manage the multiple requests that come at you during a party?

AJ:

I just take the request and fit them in where I think they fit, however some songs just won't make the cut.

Line Dance Connection:

What would you say to people who leave a party upset because they didn’t hear the one song they wanted to hear?

AJ:

I got you on the next one.

Line Dance Connection:

What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

AJ:

I really can dance.
