How long have you been dancing?

Angie King:

I can remember dancing with my family when I was in elementary school.  I learned my first line dance, “Disco Lady”, in the 2nd grade.

Line Dance Connection:

How did you get involved in dancing?

Angie King:

I got involved by watching my peers in high school dance, as well as my family.  Oh and I can’t forget watching the Soul Train dancers.

Line Dance Connection:

After you attended your very first class, how did you feel?

Angie King:

After I went to my first class……I was hooked.  I kept coming back needing more, more, and more. LOL

Line Dance Connection:

How did you get into choreography?

Angie King:

I could not stop dancing. I would dance when I was happy, sad, mad….however I was feeling.  If I got some cake and ice cream I would bust a move. LOL  I love music.

Line Dance Connection:

How many dances have you created and what was the very first dance you created?

Angie King:

I have created several dances.  My first line dance was Whenever You’re Around by Jill Scott, Gangsta Love, 6 Foot 7 Foot, Right By My Side, and some others.

Line Dance Connection:

Of all your dances which one would you say is your favorite?

Angie King:

My favorite is Gangsta Love.

Line Dance Connection:

In your own words, what makes dancing special?

Angie King:

What makes dancing special is seeing the reactions to different types of music, as well as seeing different types of movements that go with the music throughout the world.  It really motivates me.

Line Dance Connection:

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

Angie King:

I’d like to see a little more compassion for one another and less competition……it takes the fun out of dancing. I like when an individual has their own style.

Line Dance Connection:

Tell me one thing about yourself that the dance community would find surprising.

Angie King:

I had to learn to put on tough skin and I always stay humble. I'm happy with my inner peace.  I wake up and I never take a given day for granted. God is Good!
