My name is ArLeatha Fulgham and my dance nickname is Bam Bam.

Line Dance Connection:

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

I am from Philly and I now live in Decatur, GA.

Line Dance Connection:

What do you do in your professional life? Any hobbies outside of dance?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

In my professional life I’m a Project Planner.

Outside of dance, I love bowling but I haven't had much  time to do it lately (line dancing has consumed my life).

Line Dance Connection:

So what do they call this dance craze in your home town? Line Dancing, Hustling, Sliding, Other?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

We call it Soul Line Dancing

Line Dance Connection:

Are you affiliated with any group or groups?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

It's not really a group, but my company is named Leatha's Soul Line Dancing, LLC.

Line Dance Connection:

How long have you been dancing?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

I've been dancing now for 11 years and teaching for 5 years.

Line Dance Connection:

How did you get involved in dancing?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

It happened about 12 years ago when I attended my sister Gloria Kingcade's 50th Line Dance Birthday Party in Philly. Just seeing everyone dancing together in harmony gave me a feeling I will never forget. It's the same feeling I get now when dancing together with my line dance family.

Line Dance Connection:

After you attended your very first class, how did you feel?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

It made me want to learn more dances.

Line Dance Connection:

How did you get into choreography?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

I'm not really a Choreographer. I created my first dance with two other people while we were bored on a cruise.

Line Dance Connection:

How many dances have you created and what was the very first dance you created?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

I have created 3 dances and my first dance was LLP Jiggy.  My second dance Veranda Strut was created for one of my senior classes because they like the song Baby Workout by Jackie Wilson. My Love was created to Share My Love by R Kelly because I liked the music and wanted to create a beginner dance that my student could do.

Line Dance Connection:

Of all your dances which one would you say is your favorite?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

Now that's like picking which one of your children you like the most. I can't pick one, I love them all.

Line Dance Connection:

In your own words, what makes dancing special?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

Harmony.

Line Dance Connection:

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

ArLeatha Fulgham:

Nothing. Soul Line Dancing is a way to express your individualism while dancing together with others. It can't be boxed in; I love that it’s for anybody, young/old, men/women and all colors.

Line Dance Connection:

Tell me one thing about yourself that the dance community would find surprising.

ArLeatha Fulgham:

My Husband and I have a vegetable garden. This is our 3rd year growing tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, okra and watermelons.
