My name is Curtis Goode and my dance nickname is Major Payne.

Curtis Goode:

I am from Detroit, MI.

What do you do in your professional life? Any hobbies outside of dance?

Curtis Goode:

I have been a Police Officer for 28 years. I like to travel, sports and sci-fi movies.

So what do they call this dance craze in your home town? Line Dancing, Hustling, Sliding, Other?

Curtis Goode:

In Detroit, we call it Hustling.

Are you affiliated with any group or groups?

Curtis Goode:

I'm a member of New Hustle Generation and United We Dance.

How long have you been dancing?

Curtis Goode:

I have been dancing for 25 years.

How did you get involved in dancing?

Curtis Goode:

In 1988, I was at the Papillion Night Club and they were doing 2 hustles at the time.

After you attended your very first class, how did you feel?

Curtis Goode:

I actually felt kinda slow, lol.

How did you get into choreography?                                               

Curtis Goode:

Really, I just wanted to create my own dances.

 

 

Linedance Connection:

How many dances have you created and what was the very first dance you created?

Curtis Goode:

I have created 20 dances and my first dance was called The Jam.

 

 

Linedance Connection:

Of all your dances which one would you say is your favorite?

Curtis Goode:

I'd have to say 1,200 Bucks. The song is Candy Man by The Mary Jane Girls but I don't remember the steps, lol.

In your own words, what makes dancing special?

Curtis Goode:

It's the camaraderie (fellowship and friendship) and it's also how I met my wife.

 

 

Linedance Connection:

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

Curtis Goode:

I would change the longevity of dances...some really nice ones are only popular for a month and then it's on to something else.

 

 

Linedance Connection:

Tell me one thing about yourself that the dance community would find surprising.

Curtis Goode:
