Line Dance Connection:

What's your name? Do you have a name you’re known by when you’re DJing?

DJ Wash:

I just like to go by DJ Wash.

Line Dance Connection:

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

DJ Wash:

I’m from Philly and Philly is my home.

Line Dance Connection:

How long have you been DJing?

DJ Wash:

I've been DJing over 30 years.

Line Dance Connection:

How'd you get into DJing?

DJ Wash:

I actually started as a rapper in late 70's. I decided to try DJing because back then it looked like the DJs controlled all.

Line Dance Connection:

Are you primarily a line dance DJ? Or do you DJ non line dance events as well?

DJ Wash:

This is the BIGGEST misconception.  There’s no such thing as a line dance DJ, there are only a few "line dance songs" everything else is Music people CHOOSE to line up on. I play all types of music from Latin to Gospel and anything in between.

Line Dance Connection:

What’s your favorite thing about DJing?

DJ Wash:

My favorite thing is watching a packed crowd come unglued because of a mix I have created.

Line Dance Connection:

What's your not so favorite thing about it?

DJ Wash:

I’d have to say it’s the obnoxious impatient party people who think they know better than the DJ and the backstabbing. I also don’t care for those that devalue a true DJs talent.

Line Dance Connection:

Some people say a DJ makes or breaks a party; do you do anything special to prepare for a party?

DJ Wash:

Push the power button on.

Line Dance Connection:

What's the one thing you think you're known for?

DJ Wash:

I think I’m known for being an all-around interactive DJ and my mixing capability.

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs are guaranteed to pack the dance floor?

DJ Wash:

There are too many to pick one. Every genre has that "it" song.

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs will make you leave the DJ booth and dance?

DJ Wash:

There are too many to pick one.

Line Dance Connection:

How do you manage the multiple requests that come at you during a party?

DJ Wash:

Years ago (15-17) I got tired of people saying what I didn’t play or I was only doing a certain thing, so I implemented the “Request Board”. This way attendees, not me, could write down their requests so all could see I was giving the party what they asked for…..many have adopted it since.

Line Dance Connection:

What would you say to people who leave a party upset because they didn’t hear the one song they wanted to hear?

DJ Wash:

Grow up. It’s never personal…….sometimes time just runs out.

Line Dance Connection:

What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

DJ Wash:

How long I’ve been at this the place and that I’ve traveled internationally to perform.
