Line Dance Connection:

How did you get involved in dancing?

Devonte Normand:

I started line dancing because my Grandmother and Mother had classes in New Castle and they paid me money (about $20) per class just to play the music. One day an adult at the class challenged me to learn Good Foot and I accepted it and well the rest is history.

Line Dance Connection:

What do you like most about line dancing?

Devonte Normand:

What I like most about line dancing is being able to travel to different states or local areas and witness line dancing by different people with different interpretations of steps and movements and their expressions of dancing.  Line dancing is a completely different world for me than my regular life.  It allows me to clear my head and temporarily forget about life issues.

Line Dance Connection:

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

Devonte Normand:

If I could change one thing about line dancing it would be the negativity in our line dance community! I would rather experience people being positive about new line dancers on the scene, or new line dance event host, even new line dance creators! Everyone deserves a chance!

Line Dance Connection:

Tell me one thing about yourself that the dance community would find surprising.

Devonte Normand:

Hmm... I work with kids and I enjoy doing so mostly because, I am a big kid at heart! During my daily interactions with the kids (6th, 7th, and 8th graders) I say, "I’m Grown, I can’t keep playing gyms games with yall!" But before scheduled activity time is up I’m always in the middle playing around sometimes worst than the students

Devonte Normand:

My First time at the New Stardust in New Jersey I was doing Feel The Beat 2 and I fell! But everyone that saw me thought it was all a part of the show. Naw, I really fell…..On My Butt! In front of the glass! In front of Everyone!!!
