Line Dance Connection:

What's your name? Do you have a name you’re known by when you’re DJing?

Keisha Brown:

My name is Keisha Brown and I’m known by “DJ Black China”.

Line Dance Connection:

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

Keisha Brown:

Born, raised and currently reside in Philadelphia.

Line Dance Connection:

How long have you been DJing?

Keisha Brown:

I've been Djing for about 2 years.

Line Dance Connection:

How'd you get into DJing?

Keisha Brown:

Two guys were trying to start a new venture at a local club. I was asked to be one of the teachers at the dance class they were starting up. The first night when the party started after the class the DJ didn't have a lot of music we danced to.  So I stepped in and the rest is history.

Line Dance Connection:

Are you primarily a line dance DJ? Or do you DJ non line dance events as well?

Keisha Brown:

I DJ non line dance events as well.  Bop, Cha Cha, R&B, Old School, Salsa, etc.

Line Dance Connection:

What’s your favorite thing about DJing?

Keisha Brown:

Just being able to make people dance and have a good time.

Line Dance Connection:

What's your not so favorite thing about it?

Keisha Brown:

Not so favorite thing... Setting up and breaking down the equipment.

Line Dance Connection:

Some people say a DJ makes or breaks a party; do you do anything special to prepare for a party?

Keisha Brown:

I think of what my crowd is going to be like and what music they may like to hear at the party and make sure I have it.  If you can read your crowd, the dance floor stays packed.

Line Dance Connection:

What's the one thing you think you're known for?

Keisha Brown:

Hmmm.  For a long time I think I was known for Djing without saying a word.  People would say "you're a good Dj but why you never talk." LOL! I would have someone else MC for me all the time.  But, I'm getting better at the MC part of the business. Soon y'all might be asking me to shut up. J

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs are guaranteed to pack the dance floor?

Keisha Brown:

This is a tough one.  Busta Slide, Wobble, B Luv, Level 322, Subtle... this list can go on and on.  Line dancers get it in.

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs will make you leave the DJ booth and dance?

Keisha Brown:

Light It Up and Sexy B…...some of my favorites.

Line Dance Connection:

How do you manage the multiple requests that come at you during a party?

Keisha Brown:

I try to fit in as many request as I can.  It's tuff sometimes.

Line Dance Connection:

What would you say to people who leave a party upset because they didn’t hear the one song they wanted to hear?

Keisha Brown:

Unfortunately you can't please everybody.  I would encourage those people to come back and hopefully I can get their request in next time.

Line Dance Connection:

What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Keisha Brown:

I used to be a television news reporter.
