My name is Maria Nesbitt-Winbush. I go by the name Ree, Mz Ree, Mz Ree-Boop.

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I was raised in Harvey, IL. Markham IL. is now my home.

What do you do in your professional life? Any hobbies outside of dance?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I work in a hospital in the Dietary Department.

 

My hobbies include singing, golf, skating bowling and DIY stuff around the house. I cook pretty good too, LOL.

So what do they call this dance craze in your home town? Line Dancing, Hustling, Sliding, Other?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

They call it Line Dancing where I’m from.

Are you affiliated with any group or groups?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I am President of the Ree-Syn-Mi Dancers.

How long have you been dancing?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I have been dancing all my life. Probably before I could even walk good. (My mom always said sit still…..to this day I have a motor in my butt J)

How did you get involved in dancing?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I got involved in Line Dancing through my friends.

After you attended your very first class, how did you feel?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I felt like this is great. I can do this and you don’t have to have a partner to participate.

How did you get into choreography?                                               

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I got into choreography when I was on the Pom-Pom Squad in High School.

How many dances have you created and what was the very first dance you created?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I have created 40 dances. Millon Dollar Bill (Whitney Houston) was the 1st dance I created.

Of all your dances which one would you say is your favorite?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

I’d have to say Million Dollar Bill is my favorite.

In your own words, what makes dancing special?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

What makes dancing special to me is just getting out there and enjoying life. It makes you feel good with exercise included.

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

Maria Nesbitt-Winbush:

If I could change one thing about dancing, hmmm maybe if we all from Chi-Town come together as one like before. Yes we respect each other and deep down love one another, but at the end of the day something is missing…unity.
