Line Dance Connection:

What's your name? Do you have a name you’re known by when you’re DJing?

Page Grayson:

My name is Page Elizabeth Grayson and I’m known by “DJ Chocolate Shake”.

Line Dance Connection:

Where are you from and what city do you call home?

Page Grayson:

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN and Indianapolis is my home.

Line Dance Connection:

How long have you been DJing?

Page Grayson:

I’ve been DJing since 2007.

Line Dance Connection:

How'd you get into DJing?

Page Grayson:

We hired a local DJ for our cabaret and we had to tell him what to play and then pay him.  After taking to Zig (Richard Phillips), we decided that I could do that.  So the group purchased a beginner DJ unit and it’s been on since then.

Line Dance Connection:

Are you primarily a line dance DJ? Or do you DJ non line dance events as well?

Page Grayson:

Line dance parties are my favorite, but I do weddings, birthday parties, retirement parties, etc.

Line Dance Connection:

What’s your favorite thing about DJing?

Page Grayson:

I love looking out and watching everyone dance.  It makes me smile to hear dancers say “that’s my song/dance” as they run to the floor.

Line Dance Connection:

What's your not so favorite thing about it?

Page Grayson:

I really don’t care for the negativity that comes with requests not being played when the requestor thinks it should be played.

Line Dance Connection:

Some people say a DJ makes or breaks a party; do you do anything special to prepare for a party?

Page Grayson:

Since I dance, I’m usually aware of the “hot” dances for that week, but Facebook and YouTube have become my best friends during the week of a party.  I’m on their reading comments, watching videos, requesting music.  I try to always be prepared.

Line Dance Connection:

What's the one thing you think you're known for?

Page Grayson:

I’m known for sooo much (jk), but most recently I think I’m known for the line dance “Just Shake”.  We’ve received so much positive feedback about the dance…that makes me smile.

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs are guaranteed to pack the dance floor?

Page Grayson:

Just Shake (Thrift Shop), Bump That Rump (Classic), Subtle (Make Love To Me),  STL Caffeine, Light It Up, Amazing, Some Mo Ground, Frame, M&M Pump…..I could go on and on…..

Line Dance Connection:

What song or songs will make you leave the DJ booth and dance?

Page Grayson:

Bump That Rump (my all time fav), Just Shake, Incognito Remix (I’m bringing it back), STL LA, Subtle, M&M Pump, and Interlude.

Line Dance Connection:

How do you manage the multiple requests that come at you during a party?

Page Grayson:

This is a work in progress for me.  I write them all down and I try to fit them in with the flow of the party.

Line Dance Connection:

What would you say to people who leave a party upset because they didn’t hear the one song they wanted to hear?

Page Grayson:

Not sure I would say anything considering they probably left the party sweating and limping because they heard all of their other favorites.  I think it’s important for all of the line dancers to understand that with so many dances, some dances will not get played that night.  Please don’t be upset, just keep coming back.

Line Dance Connection:

What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Page Grayson:

I know that most would be surprised that I’m really a sweet person.  I have low tolerance for foolishness, so sometimes my face says “get away from me”, but I’m not mean.  I’m really sensitive too, so be nice.
