Line Dance Connection:

After you attended your very first class, how did you feel?

Tymeana Bullock:

Back in 1999 when I started line dancing, there were no line dance classes.  We met at a local club for happy hour and back then people were friendly enough to grab your hand, pull you on the floor and show you the steps (which is how I met Ronnie Goode).

Line Dance Connection:

How did you get into choreography?

Tymeana Bullock:

I was a drum major in my neighborhood marching band at the age of 12 and one of my responsibilities was choreographing marching routines for parades and marching competitions.  In 2000, I challenged myself to see if I could choreograph a line dance.

Line Dance Connection:

How many dances have you created and what was the very first dance you created?

Tymeana Bullock:

I have created 10 dances and my very first dance was "Tymeana Stomp" in 2000.

Line Dance Connection:

Of all your dances which one would you say is your favorite?

Tymeana Bullock:

My favorite is "Tymeana Stomp".

Line Dance Connection:

In your own words, what makes dancing special?

Tymeana Bullock:

Dancing is special to me because it's an unique art and gift given to me from God that allows me to express who I am, what I'm feeling, gives me peace when needed and relieves stress when there's a must.

Line Dance Connection:

If you could change one thing about dancing, what would it be?

Tymeana Bullock:

If I could change one thing about dancing, I would like to see it return to a family oriented activity.  Dancing of all types (not just line dancing) has turned into a spectator sport and has become competitive.  I have witnessed the art of dancing being violated and abused on so many levels that it has destroyed homes, families, people physically and mentally in the streets as well as in the entertainment industry and churches.

Line Dance Connection:

Tell me one thing about yourself that the dance community would find surprising.

Tymeana Bullock:

As crazy as people assume I am, surprisingly, I'm a preacher's kid. I love God and I can sing gospel music like my life depends on it.  When I look back over my life and all that I've been through, I can't do anything but thank God for saving me.
